Halloween Episodes, You May Not Have Known Existed But Should!

I think a change of pace is needed. So this is a quick throw out to the paranormal episodes of shows that really weren’t thought of as having paranormal episodes 🙂 First we have:

  • GI JOE: A Real American Hero; Season 1, Episode 18 “The Phantom Brigade” (1985) – Cobra Commander and the Baroness hire a Gypsy to summon three ghosts; a Centurion warrior, a Mongolian Amazon, and a World War I American pilot ace, to destroy G.I. Joe. The Baroness informs the Joes to locate a Roman coin, a wedding ring, and heart-shaped locket from Cobra Commander, and then bury the items to make the ghosts disappear.
  • GI JOE: A Real American Hero; Season 2, Episode 35 “Excalibur” (1985) – G.I. Joe sets up a radar tracking station in England. While Storm Shadow finds King Arthur’s legendary sword Excalibur at the bottom of a lake and uses its strength to attack the Joes and destroy their station.
  • GI JOE: A Real American Hero; Season 1, Episode 22 “G.I. Joe and the Golden Fleece” (1986) – Joes and Cobras race to capture a golden coil dropped from a UFO, and the device sends them back in time to ancient Greece, where they are mistaken for deities.
  • GI JOE: Season 2, Episode 28 “El Dorado: The Lost City of Gold” (1991) – Grunt discovers the Lost City of Gold, will Cobra soon follow?
GI JOE PHANTOM BRIGADE
GI JOE “The Phantom Brigade”

Yup GI JOE the animated series had more than a few episodes that dealt with paranormal… I bet you didn’t exactly remember that growing up watching it, did you?

  • X-Files; Season 2, Episode 11 “Excelsis Dei” (1994) -Mulder and Scully’s latest case begins with the rape and battery of a nurse in a Massachusetts convalescent home. What makes it an X-File is her claim that her attacker was invisible. But upon their arrival, they discover that the unrest is not limited only to the live in residents.

X-Files “Excelsis Dei”
  • X-Files; Season 2, Episode 23 “Soft Light” (1995) – An ex-student of Scully’s asks the agents to help her with her first investigation concerning a number of disappearances with very few clues. Mulder ponders the idea of spontaneous human combustion but rethinks it when they find a man who is afraid of his own shadow. The man is Dr. Banton, a scientist researching dark matter.
  • X-Files; Season 5, Episode 12 “Bad Blood” (1998) – While investigating bizarre exsanguinations in Texas, Mulder kills a teenage boy whom he “mistakes” for a vampire. Awaiting a meeting with Skinner, Mulder and Scully attempt to get their stories “straight” by relating to each other their differing versions of what happened during their investigation.
  • X-Files; Season 6, Episode 3 “Triangle” (1998) – Mulder goes in search of a ship that disappeared in the Bermuda Triangle in 1939. But when he gets on board, Mulder finds that he—and all the passengers and crew (as well as some strangely familiar ones)—are still stuck in the past.
  • X-Files; Season 6, Episode 6 “How the Ghosts Stole Christmas” (1998) – On Christmas Eve, Mulder convinces Scully to put aside her gift wrapping and stake out a reputed haunted house. But they discover a pair of lovelorn spectres living inside the house who are determined to prove how lonely the holidays can be.

XF ED
X-Files is paranormal you say? True, but so many focus on the UFO (which is paranormal too) that i’d figure remind some of the other side of the coin that the X-Files so proudly showed from time to time…

  • SeaQuest DSV; Season 1, Episode 8 “Knight of Shadows” – When Bridger is hurled across his quarters by an unknown force, it leads the seaQuest to find a hundred-year-old sunken ship where the spirits of those who perished there haunt its ancient hull, one of which possesses Dr. Westphalen.

SeaQuest DSV followed in a long line of, sadly not not seen anymore, true “Halloween” episodes from network shows, that strayed from the concept to give a nod to the time of year it aired.

  • The Boogieman, “Quantum Leap”: (One of the best “Quantum Leap” episodes) Sam leaps into Joshua Ray, a horror novelist, on October 31, 1964. As he leaps in, strange things start to happen. And it gets worse and worse… until something unexpected happens. Also, Sam’s stories help inspire a boy named Stevie, who has a car named Christine and a dog named Cujo.

Quantum Leap had many interesting moments, but this one fit Halloween Perfectly! Have we missed anything let us know?!

Paranormal Pet Peeves (Or Why The Paranormal is a Joke!)

This Picture of "Ghost Buster Abe" has nothing to do with this article.
This Picture of “Ghost Buster Abe” has nothing to do with this article.

The paranormal community is full of many unique and ‘special’ people, from all walks of life and back stories.  So of course we all have a different view and take on what is and isn’t good for the field/hobby.. This is my take/rant/thoughts/etc….

First off any team that makes it difficult to find out who is on the team or runs it when they have a website, or social media hangout is ridiculous!   How does anyone reasonably think that a client wants to deal with a paranormal group who hides their names and faces? Would you welcome people in your home without knowing who they are, especially if they will be there for hours on end? Come on!

Groups/People who delete all the data they collect from a hunt/case, because they didn’t capture anything! OK, now in science do scientists just trash a failed experiment or do they put the notes away for later use? Well how many of our advances have come from the failures of others, or from slight tweaks to a ‘failed’ experiment! A body of work creates a base to work off of. Without that what proof you have you were there or tried it, or have been doing anything?

Groups/People who offer Paranormal Investigator ‘Certifications’, really? Come on… No one is certified in this field, dedicated yes, certified… nope.

People/Groups who just say not paranormal with no explanation to those who don’t know why it isn’t (orbs, shutter speeds, etc.) on video & picture anomalies. We should be educating each other, not just leaving others in the dust *orb pun*.

Paranormal ‘team’ members who dodge the real work and just want to do the cases, but not the leg work before or after… Their’s more to being a paranormal investigator/ghost hunter then just the hunt/investigation!

People who trespass for the hunt/investigation… Illegal is wrong… Did you miss that?

People/Groups who charge their clients for ‘services’… what the F&*k? So by “helping” them your only helping yourself? Disgusting.

Groups/People more worried about likes/followers then actually going out and doing hunts/investigations or helping people… ok… we know where your thoughts are…. yourself…. bugger off now. 🙂

And finally today… People/Groups who don’t understand or use their equipment correctly – I don’t care if its a camera, meter, app, etc. If you don’t know what it does or why it fails or its quirks… don’t use it… knowledge is power not ignorance….

Well that’s it for now… I’m sure i’ll write a part two later….

Peace,

John C. Fowler

Accountability – Part 2

I wrote the first blog on ‘Accountability’ on April 2nd, 2010 about TV shows effect on a team. This one is about the general actions that team members current and former should have.   As a team member who recently left told me, joining a team is a like a job, you may not stay forever their is a  urge to try the same job in a different way maybe somewhere else or just with other people.  And that is true as long as when a team member tells the team and  founder/runner of the group they thinking of leaving or are leaving with respect – that is the right thing to do. When one leaves a job professionally you don’t scream or walk out (though it happens) you put in your notice. You never know when you may need or want to come back, your building bridges in this journey, not burning them.

Accountability means when you leave you don’t just disappear or lie about why you are leaving, just like a job if that gets back to the team or others your reputation is gone and in the paranormal reputation is everything.  Besides helping clients and exploring the question ‘what is paranormal?’ you are building your reputation up either good or bad.  Accountability means standing up and saying ‘OK, I messed up, here’s how we fixed it…’

I’m amazed how people leave a team or group then just trash them or the founder, that’s not respect or accountability if anything it shows your true colors. And why NO ONE should support you or your ventures.  I don’t wanna hear ‘What about Para Unity’ on that type of deal. Supporting people who should be supported is Para Unity – the ones who spend hours helping families understand and overcome the issues they dealing with.  The ones who have respect for not just themselves, but others! Not the idiots who trash others for no reason other then personal gain.  Personal gain is not helping people its helping ones self.

Accountability is one of many things paranormal groups and people should be all about. Accountability, Respect, Honesty, Truth, etc….
