Paranormal Q&A with Karen Timper (Chapter 3)

Karen TimperWho Are You?

Karen Timper

What are your thoughts on networking with other teams or investigators?

It’s always a plus to get out there and meet other (reputable) groups and talk about “ghosts” and share thoughts and opinions about equipment etc.

Hunter, Investigator, Researcher – What do you want to be referred to and why

Investigator. Why, because that’s what we are doing. Investigating peoples claims of paranormal activity and trying to give them answers and explanations.

What is your most memorable paranormal experience?

It is most gratifying when you ask specific questions and get answers that you know are accurate during EVP sessions, that always stands out for me. You have made that connection to the other side, other dimension.

Have you ever had an experience where you’ve crossed a spirit over?

I have been in a group setting where that was done with the Psychic-Medium. One particular investigation the building (area) was Revolutionary War era and the spirits did not know that the war was over.

Did you have experiences while growing up?

Yes, please refer to my books.

What is your favorite Paranormal Show (TV/Internet/Radio?

No favorite paranormal show. Favorite Internet show would have to include Haunted Voices Radio, Marla Brooks Stirring the Cauldron, Paranormal Sibs are excellent.

What are your thoughts about Provoking?

No provoking. We always try and remain respectful. However when spirits start using obscenities, ALL BETS ARE OFF. We ask that they respect us as well.

What are your thoughts about Orbs? Dust or spirit? How do you tell the difference?

Orbs have to be looked at closely and we follow certain criteria before they can be referred to as an orb. Experience will help you determine the difference. I would also like to mention, look at them closely, from time to time we have gotten faces within these ”orbs” You also have to pay close attention to where you are when you are photographing. We show our newer members the difference between spirit orbs and environment conditions.

Would you ever use a Medium or Psychic on your team?

We on many occasions use a Psychic-Medium. If you use them to support evidence and vice versa you can successfully combine the efforts to achieve accurate results.

Paranormal Q&A with Karen Timper (Chapter 2)

Karen Timper

Who are you?

Karen Timper

Do you believe in Reincarnation?

Who do you think you were in your past life (or lives)? I believe in reincarnation. I have never done past-life regression but would love to. I have a strong interest in Ancient Egypt for unknown reasons.

What are your thoughts on Para Unity?

I don’t think that a unification of groups unfortunately could be successful. The field has become too widespread, too many people calling themselves groups and too diverse in the sense of work ethic and attitude. And who would decide who will be in charge? It sounds like it would be a rough subject. I’m all for some type of organization to keep reputable groups and individuals together and keep the riff raff out.

Have you ever investigated a Church?

What are your thoughts on this? Yes. We have investigated both Church and Rectory’s. My thoughts are that any place can have a haunting so long as doors are opened. I don’t think that a place of worship is immune from having activity.

When having a joint investigation with another team(s), how do you select the team(s) or members of other teams that you invite?

I invite people that I trust.

What do you tell someone looking to join a team, what should they look for or ask?

It’s not what they are looking for, it’s what we are looking for.

Any advice to a group just starting out?

Choose your friends wisely and future group members even wiser. Have a period of trial and look for people who have the same standards of work ethic and integrity as you do.

Do you think it’s important to share findings with others in the paranormal community?

Not important.

You run across a team that you feel gives a bad name to the field. How do you handle the situation? Do you confront them about it?

No, people will see what they are all about. Intelligence and experience always prevail.

Do you feel it is important to do a background investigation on the location (land/building) that you’re going to investigate?

It helps, but it can’t always be done. Every effort should be made in the sense that it will help you to decide how and what your team will focus on. It can certainly help when developing the questions you would like to ask when conducting an EVP or Ghost Box Session. We’ve done investigations both ways.

Paranormal Q&A with Karen Timper (Chapter 1)

Karen TimperWho are you?

Karen Timper, Author of “Journey Into The Unknown~ Your Guide To Paranormal Investigating” & “Folklore of the New Jersey Shore~ History, the Supernatural & Beyond” and Founder of New Jersey Ghost Organization.

Explain your Methodology?

Our Methodology is simple.  We combine scientific methods and theories along with psychic intervention to achieve successful results wherever we can. We keep our equipment simple and we’ve built equipment when necessary.  Our members are disciplined and we do not show disrespect to the haunts we investigate.

Favorite Haunts?

Prisons, Gettysburg, PA, and any site that murders have taken place!

Personal Experiences?

Mostly shadows and physical audible voices and physical touches etc.

Why did you get into the Paranormal?

The paranormal peaked my interest after some experiences early on in both childhood and early adulthood occurred.

Whats next?

Keep on investigating to get awesome results to prove beyond any doubts that there is life after death and another dimension.

Do you think that paranormal shows (radio/TV/Internet) give groups a bad reputation?

Yes.  I believe that TV Ghost Huntings shows give fans that watch a false sense of “I can do that too” and these shows have made it more difficult for reputable, hard working groups to get into places to investigate.  Once these TV shows have been to some very impressive places, these places rip off regular groups and charge a lot of money.  My philosophy became, “you want to charge us to come in and investigate? We’re gonna charge you for the results”

Who is the person in the paranormal field you look up to the most or want to be like?

No one.

Have you made a page on www.paranormaldictionary.com?

Yes (editor note, page can be viewed click here.)

Name some Random Facts about you?

I’m a huge fan of Classic Rock, Born and raised in New Jersey and will always be a Jersey Girl, Love historical movies and some horror movies. I have a phenomenal sense of humor (so I’ve been told).  If this ghost hunting thing doesn’t work out I can take my act on the road LOL I am married for over 30 years and have two adult children. I support Animal Rescue Groups, as does all of our members. I own several haunted artifacts.

Are you a skeptic or a believer?

Mostly a believer with a side order of skepticism.  However as an investigator I try and stay grounded and impartial until all the evidence is in.  Listening is the key.  Our goal is to help the client to show them that yes, we’ve been able to support your claims or show them the reasonable explanation.

Be Very Wary of the Witch Hunts…

witch-huntSomething I see happening alot lately in the para community is calling out trouble makers, liars, frauds, etc. Which I agree we need to step up to these people, but I also see a few who are going to far and are making leaps into what “is or isn’t” happening out there….. what I mean by that is they let their good intentions go unchecked and when guilt by association starts to kicks in…. it is taken to far.

We all know what’s right and wrong in the field we see it everyday…. how many of us step up and try to fix it? How many of us use the evidence we see to judge people not what we told? If we aren’t careful it will turn into a witch hunt… do we really want to be known for that time frame in the para world? So basically check your facts, check them again, then make sure your level headed… we all let the emotions get the best of us from time to time…  Stand up for whats right and true, not what is “thought” to be true…

Peace,

John C. Fowler
