Gettysburg Personal Experiences 2015

1/29/15 Hall of Presidents.

Only a few things I can put in here. I did hear a scratching noise that was later debunked as a heat vent. Also there were a bunch of emf hits that could have been attributed to the heater and wiring.

1/30/15 Jennie Wade.

I will start by saying this was one of the most eventful investigations I have been a part of. Though most of what happened didn’t involve me personally. We started up stairs to debunk a certain chain that shakes on its own. While the chain did shake on its own I do think it was from vibrations from the wall by the stairs. I did hear a few noises while we were upstairs that were coming from the first floor on the Wade side. They were like banging noises that could have been attributed to heating/expansion. I also heard the same kind of noises later on when we were in the basement. These also came from the first floor on the Wade side. While we investigated the first floor the static domes we had spread out between the two rooms had gone off in sequence like something had walked into the rooms and left. While this was happening we all took turns standing in a particular corner due to Bob having an experience standing there first. After taking my turn I did feel a slight headache. However I think this was due to dehydration now.

1/31/15 Orphanage.

As for this investigation I don’t have much to say here. While investigating the back storage room I heard a whisper that only myself and Mark heard between us. Hopefully it got captured on one of the three recording devices in the room for later review.

2/1/15 Orphanage.

I think I had a target on my back for this one. At least when it comes to seeing things. Which at this point is the only thing sticking out in my mind. I saw my first shadow figure peeking out from behind the doorway to the back storage room. After seeing it I went over to where I saw it and estimated its height at around 6 feet tall. I would think it to be male but I don’t know. The other experience I had was in the basement during clean up. While most of the way down stairs I heard a noise back and to the left of me. I turned to look to see part of a head peeking around the corner of the doorway in the basement. About a half a second later the same figure poked out again. This time with whole face in shot. I will say this scared me being that this is the first time I have personally seen something like this. After freaking out a bit I did look down the hall to see nothing of course. I did estimate the height of what I saw around 4 feet tall. At the time I thought our dvr camera caught all of this. I only found out later the camera was disconnected before this happened. So unfortunate.

Gettysburg 2015 Investigation

personal experience

Friday night: Investigating the Orphanage, nice to get back into action setting up the dvr, and actually doing an invest. It was interesting and different to work with Bob’s crew, not a large amount of possible “evidence”  but plenty to be reviewed as yet, hoping for some interesting things overall not a bad invest.

Saturday night: Investigating the Jennie Wade house, overall a fun experience, though a few more breaks than expected for an invest. did not note anything that i would consider “activity”, even when I was in the house a full 45+ minutes by my self before anyone else came into the house. unfortunately called it early this night due to dinner being the only haunting experience, and later found that most of the group I was with had done the same.

Sunday night: back at the Orphanage, no insult or anything meant to the other group, it was nice to work with a group that I knew the established strengths and weaknesses, mannerisms and what not, things flowed a bit more organically, we did more of a experimentation round than a full investigation, messed with a few things, tried a few others, apparently also startled John Brandis during the clean-up accidentally, generally fun had by all.

Gettysburg 2015

To preface this, this was my first time truly investigating with group.  I have been to Stemie’s once before, and helped with the public investigation at Graeme Park, but this was my first real chance to get out and investigate with the team.  This being said, all accounts on my part are not taken as proof of ghosts, spirits, or the afterlife, just odd things that happened that I do not currently have an explanation for.

The Hall of Presidents was creepy in and of itself.  I can’t say that I’m a fine of being in the real life movie wax museum.  While going through, we found a few odd emf spots, where it would appear to be in the middle of the floor, about 1-2 feet off the ground, but no higher or lower.  There was also an odd rattle that we could hear from other rooms, but it took a little while for us to narrow down.  It turned out the rattle was a loose heat guard for the vents, and the emf appeared to be coming from unshielded wire and large electrical boxes in the basement.  We tried using the ghost meter pro down in the basement, which had some odd results, however they were very spotty at best.

Jennie Wade turned out to be more interesting than I had thought.  Initially we did not see much in the house, so we moved down to the basement.  In the basement, there were some odd anomalies in regards to heat.  We tried using the Frank’s box to see if anything came through, but there was not much in that regard.  We finally moved back inside and ended up in the first story of the building, in the area where Jenny would have been shot.  This is where things became interesting.  At one point, Bob became nauseous standing in a spot and asked me to come stand in the same spot.  I did not feel anything at first and after about five minutes, I was about to leave when it felt like someone began twisting my heart.  I stood in the spot when it happened again, only more pronounced, and it stopped when I left the spot.  After reporting this, Bob filled us in on feeling nauseous, and Dave stood in the same spot and reported headaches.  About this same time, some of the new pods that Bob was testing went off in an odd way.  They went around the room and then back out.  As we began packing up to leave, Andrew the camera man had his headphones seemingly pulled out of his hands twice.  On the second time, we said out loud that “you have my attention and I am about to leave, what do you want” when the pod on the stairs went off.  I have no explanation for the events that happened in the room aside from possibly having the idea put in our heads that we should feel some odd sensation standing in the spot so we did, and that perhaps static electricity set off the pod.

The next night we did the orphanage, and although a few people seemed to have results in the back hallway of the basement of the basement, I was not able to see anything due to the small size and amount of people within.  Later we moved into the back storeroom where we had a few surprises.  At one point both Brandis and I heard an audible whisper that no one else in the room heard, and a pod by Kris’ foot went off.  After that, the night concluded on an anticlimactic note.

The following night we returned to the orphanage.  We tried a couple of experiments this time.  At one point we left a spirit board in the basement with an EM pump on underneath and dust on the top glass shelf to see if it would move while we were gone.  We were working off of the premise that ghosts need our energy in order to communicate, which is why someone needs to place their hands on the oracle.  In the effort of trying to weed out human interference in the process, I suggested using the EM pump because supposedly the energy created is associated with ghosts, however nothing seemed to happen.  We later tried more experiments with mixed results.  In the one, John asked questions in a separate room while Kris tried to receive responses in the basement.  She had no knowledge of what the questions actually were, and while there were some results, they did not greatly impress.  We tried this again later with John in the basement and Kris in the storeroom where we received some creepy answers.  I cannot rule out human error, or interference at what I would assume to be the subconscious level so I am trying to think of more experiments to try and explore this idea.

All in all, it was a good experience.  I came out of this with a better of idea of how to be skeptical and look for logical answers in regards to ghost hunting.  I also came out with more questions than I came in with that I would like to look into more deeply.  Of course I cannot rule out human error in any of these events or experiences, and do not necessarily attribute them to ghosts or anything of that sort.  I just found some of them unusual to say in the least, and would like to explore it more.

Gettysburg Trip 2015 with Ghost Detectives!

Orphanage Renovation Feb 2015
Orphanage Renovation as of February 2015

Where do I start?  It was a helluva of a week at Gettysburg, PA as we investigated the Hall of Presidents, Jennie Wade House Museum & The Orphanage (along with the former Solider’s Museum which is closed and under renovation), the last two we did with Bob Christopher & the Ghost Detectives!  We finished the weekend alone in the Orphanage to do our own thing.  It was a great time sharing knowledge and seeing some new gear!

Hall of Presidents (1/29/2015):

The hall seemed very quiet, we start review this week, but I will say that Hall of First ladies freaks me out…. We did find a ton of odd RF/EMF spikes through out certain sections, but I believe they are from the furnace kicking on/off. We had heard a scratching noise a few times which we debunked to heat kicking on and vent movement behind a door causing it.

Orphanage & Old Solider’s Museum (1/30/2015):

After we split up teams with the Ghost Detectives we started investigating in the Basement with a new Trigger Object – A Life Like Dog that Vortex Ghost Gear makes as a trigger for the children. I think the trigger dog is a great idea.  We did not hear or see it go off all night, but we had a camera on it for over 24 hours. So stay tuned for that, as some staff working in the gift shop above it relayed they heard it go off before we came in to investigate again!  As we were starting in the basement one of the Ghost Detective team members was over whelmed with emotions and sadness, she had to go outside for some fresh air.

Jennie Wade House (1/31/2015):

Well again we split up teams and started investigating – it started off slow.  The “real time” record went off by itself a few times, I believe it was because the “hold” button was left off and recorded was bumped during the night at times.  Also a few odd noises on it were debunked as an insulin pump going off from the person wearing as she had it too close the recorder.  After we switched up some members we all heard some odd noises and voices – I also heard the sound of pot under the bed sound like the lid lifted or was moved, but that could be from heating/cooling of the house.

Orphanage & Old Solider’s Museum (2/1/2015):

We did some experimenting at Orphanage on our own just as a team & tried using remote E.V.P. questions with someone on a spirit board who can not hear the questions being asked. During a normal session with the board we did get some names to go off of, but it is possible subconsciously the reader had known these names before hand and they popped out.   A few odd noises were heard in the section that was old Soldier’s Museum that is in process of being renovated – I heard what sounded like footsteps and voices. Also in the basement I heard a female voice a few times softly – it is possible that is was our only female, but she was in section that we hadn’t heard anyone else in from where we were sitting.

So like always at the end of the day (investigations) the review will tell us what we have if anything…. though we did catch what sounded like a little girl on a recorder I was testing out at the end of the night.

Peace,

John C. Fowler
