What Goes Around….

paranormal soap

The paranormal community as a whole probably could be more entertaining then all of the soaps combined!  We have so many conflicting views, cat fighting and just general discourse that the entertainment of watching groups, people, places implode would captivate an audience more the any paranormal find.. .hell an alien talking to a full body apparition caught on 1080p video would be over looked when groups fight! Oh he hates him, she likes them…. YUCK!!!!!

I’m personally tired of the whole i’m right your wrong bullshit that goes on. I mean two faced people aren’t needed in any phase of my life.  You hate someone, hey fine… don’t deal with them! I think that’s a simple idea, or better yet you want to be accepted as professional then act it!  Is that a hard concept? Nope… well for some it is….

I guess the main part of my rant here is that people whether its clients, para groups/person, or yourself needs to upfront and honest with not just yourself, but others around you as well.  I will never understand the point in attacking people for no reason, but saying you hate people who do that…. wow… hi my name is Cedric! Your? oh Hypocrite. Nice to meet you!

As Robert A. Heinlein  said, “Love is that condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own… Jealousy is a disease, love is a healthy condition. The immature mind often mistakes one for the other, or assumes that the greater the love, the greater the jealousy.”

The paranormal community could learn a lot from that quote… love the quest, enjoy the ride…. grow as a person on this journey don’t be bogged down by what you didn’t do that someone else has done or did first, be proud of what you’ve done… follow your passion, just don’t let it consume you…..

Paracons Every Weekend????

First of all, let me say that i think a paracon is a great idea to let different teams meet, share experiences and try to educate the public. However, is it really necessary to have one every weekend??? My facebook page is overwhelmed with pictures and advertisements of this paracon and that paracon. What it is NOT overwhelmed with is information about what people are learning through paranormal investigating and research done to prove or disprove different theories and evidence. What is this field becoming? Unfortunately, I do know a few groups (who will remain nameless) that do nothing but travel to these various paracons, make “personal appearances”, pocket a wad of cash and use it as an excuse to party all night & cheat on their spouses. One group in particular that claim to be “experts” in the field don’t even do any investigating ! As a matter of fact, one of the founders of the group asked me to show him how to use a PX at an open ghost hunt that his group sponsored! It is laughable at best to consider this person an “expert” in this field. He is only a celebrity in his own mind. Isn’t this field about “investigating” the paranormal and coming up with answers to the phenomenon that people experience? How did this turn into “paranormal celebrities” lining their pockets with money to make personal appearances?? My idea of a paracon is something that happens once a year when ‘real’ paranormal investigators gather FOR FREE, compare findings and educate each other & the public. I find it sad and upsetting that people who have no paranormal background or education are jumping on the paranormal bandwagon and using these “paracons” as a way to make money for themselves. I’m not saying there are not genuine people out there who do have the knowledge and experience, but it seems to me the posers outweigh the real ones. To me, this is yet another thing that makes what we do look cheap and exploited. Just my two cents….

What Are You Doing Here?

This won’t be popular. But I believe it needs saying.

Recently a post has been going around on Facebook promoting Paranormal Unity, because we’re all after the same thing. While I support the idea of respect across the board, I’m afraid I need to burst your bubble. We aren’t all in it for the same reasons.

In fact, there are four main reasons we are in this field: Finding Answers, Helping Others, Thrill Seeking and Money/Fame. I’m sure at least two apply to you.

I’m in the group looking for answers; trying to explain the paranormal either through efforts to develop reliable methodology or new equipment, as well as the group looking to help other people with problems from the paranormal. Getting us to respect each other and try to educate others is not a hard thing to do.

A small group are in it for fame and fortune, expecting to be the next Ghost Adventures Crew or the like. The chances of getting them to respect everyone else depend upon how highly those folks look up to them.

The majority of people these days seem to be in this for kicks. I read posts about people going to famous haunted locations and looking forward to getting scared. They are excited and expecting it to be fun.

And here’s the really unpopular bit – the paranormal world is not an amusement park! It doesn’t exist for you to get your jollies. It can, in fact, be quite dangerous. A good friend was recently pushed so hard she would have gone down a long flight of stairs had she been a step or two closer. I’ve lost friends and even a relationship over changes caused in people’s behavior.

It’s okay to be excited and enjoy investigating. But take the time to learn what you’re doing from seasoned people and sources other than television shows. Otherwise you may get what you asked for and, when you find yourself injured at the bottom of those stairs, that it wasn’t what you had been expecting.

I Feel It Coming In the Night….

I can’t help but feel an upswing for us (Midnight Watchmen), many great things are coming later this year heading into next year, investigations-events-and much more.  When I feel this shift i get excited, the energy calling me to whats next, the fun part? I have no idea where it leads just that its going somewhere I HAVE TO BE.

Those times only have happened a couple of times for me.   One was the night before we did The Orphanage the first time out in Gettysburg, PA.  I’ll never forget looking over the rail of the hotel that overlooks Jennie Wade House and staring at The Orphanage across the street thinking to myself “What have you got for me” and deep down knowing things will change, that next night I met Chris. She been a close friend and confidant ever since.   Things were never the same. lol

Its those times that drive me to the What’s Next?? Mentality I have. I’m along for the ride, sometimes more realistically, i’m being me, just following the path i’m supposed to be on.  Their isn’t much that surprises me on a case, no but i’m amazed at what we find as much as what we don’t. And their is no question in my mind the spirit world exists or that they are here now watching & reading this with you…

Have a great day everyone!

Cedric
