I’ve been thinking allot about these famous ghost associations, like Taps Family or GAC (Ghost Adventures Crew). In case you don’t know, these are a way for paranormal groups who prolly have never met the famous parent teams to be “part of” family/crew…. Now Taps Family for example has strict rules to be part of the family, which is good thing! All teams in this field need good rules and principles to follow, that I agree with 100%.
What I don’t agree with is a team like TAPS or Ghost Adventures basically becoming an idol and blindly followed because of the doors it can open. I’m told being a Taps Family or GAC member allows you access because of their name to get into places….. Well whoop de do. When I got into the paranormal my goal was to explore the unknown, not to use some one elses name in the field to get me into places. Anyone whose known me for awhile knows I stand on my own, i’m unique and love the fact that Midnight Watchmen are unique as well! I’ve gotten into places no one has because of the leg work we did, not someone elses!
I’d rather be remembered for doing my own thing then following in footsteps of another just because their famous… Strike your own path! I’m also worried that TAPS or GAC in some way form would ‘cherry pick’ the hot case and leave a local team out because they the head of the house. That being said, I have no ill will or bad things to say about Taps Family or GAC members. This is just how I feel overall on the subject.
And i’ll state here, now… That Midnight Watchmen will never be a Taps Family or GAC member or start our own crew/family. We work with anyone and everyone. I personally believe Para Unity or whatever you want to call it will only work with teams working together, not under the “big dogs”…
As some of you who follow us here may have noticed a few new names popped up for writing lately: Jon Bolton, Frank Heiberger, & ParanomGal. Jon Bolton is John Cannon our fellow Midnight Watchmen member, he’s decided to return to his real name for his paranormal adventures. Frank Heiberger is a paranormal Investigator from Chicago, Illinois and contributes to our Cannon Shots section. ParanormalGal is a western Pennsylvania investigator and Cannon Shots contributor as well.
Cannon Shots is what I call articles that range in topics and views that may not be generally Midnight Watchmen’s. I as the founder let them run wild, hitting any mark they see fit. These writers are not given assignments or ideas, they totally go on their own for their posts/ideas. Which is what makes their writings unique and we hope thought provoking!
Different ideas have been the corner stone of the Midnight Watchmen style of operation. We have never kept people from have their own opinions, even if they differ from ours. I know for a fact that Jon Bolton for lack of a better term tweaked people with his article on “White Light Healing… Someone Call an Electrician“, and that started a nice debate on the subject internally and out worldly with others.
So let me officially welcome Jon Bolton, Frank Heiberger & ParanomGal to our team of thought provoking writers of Cannon Shots! We hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
I recently posted that paranormal unity was a noble idea, but a practical impossibility because of the differing purposes of people involved. The two worst are those seeking to become famous and those who cannot tolerate even the slightest criticism of their conclusions. Orbs? Please. Here’s some Endust and a fly swatter; problem solved.
Myself, I am about to blog a partial retraction of my last post regarding the Sedamsville Rectory. (See my blog Paranormal Sojourner.) I operate under a strict protocol, when it comes to evidence, particularly that of psychics. I know many people who simply won’t use them because their readings cannot be verified. I will accept their readings as plausible to probable, if more than one picks up on the same things independently or they match history or facts unknown to them.
But if only one person senses something, I may act on it during an investigation, but will not consider it evidence. Which leads me to the retraction I will need to make. At the time, I had thought two psychics had picked up on a sect of pagans. In comparing notes, I have learned it was only one. Further, I have not been able to confirm such a sect through follow up research. I must therefore conclude that there are not and never were any pagans performing sadistic rituals on the spot of the Rectory. That was a figment of one person’s imagination.
The Pukwudgie, on the other hand, has been detected by several people over a period of time. A Pukwudgie is a native imp, which would have been there long before people settled the area, and which likes to cause discord and even harm. Likely, it put those ideas of pagans into our colleagues head just to mess with us. It may also explain another Sedamsville legend: Sleeper’s Hill, where a sadistic killer dismembered young victims and scattered the body parts throughout the forest.
This brings me to the question that’s on my mind. How would we know when the entities themselves are manipulating our findings?
Slender Man from www.mylittlemedia.com/2012/08/slender-man-he-sees-me/
Strange things that go bump in the night…the Boogie man hiding under your bed or in your closet…Sandusky…all these things bring up fear within a child and/or their parent. For many years tales have been passed down from generation to generation about creatures that would steal children never to see them again. Some of our deepest and darkest fears come from these stories we hear as children and they then carry on into our adult life. Once we become adults do we completely forget about such stories??? No we do not. They are still there in the back of our mind for us to tell our children or sometimes those stories come out when we hear of something unexplainable, something that can happens for no reason at all, something that makes you wonder if those stories you heard when you were younger are in fact laced with some sort of truth.
One such story that has little to no notoriety is that of the Slenderman. No it’s not some weight loss success story and no its not some stupid wrestling gimmick name it is in fact a paranormal child stealing demon…supposedly. I must admit that I have never heard of this story before or even about this thing known as the Slenderman, but I stumbled across it and here we go.
The Slenderman supposedly has a long history attached to it going back as far as german wood cuttings. It depicted a man, almost skeletal in appearance, with very long limbs that do not bend in normal positions. While not much is known about him and his origin of formation he has been linked to numerous child disappearances. It is also said to have been caught on tape in audio format, now if you can find this on the vast array of youtube videos you would see why I don’t give the audio that much credit. There are pictures of him and some supposed vided, but nothing concrete to confirm his true existence…gee sounds like every single paranormal or cryptozoology story out there to date.
The Slenderman is just that…he is slender, but over the years he has changed, I don’t know if this is because of his surroundings or he is keeping up with the fashion times. Whatever the case may be he is now depicted as wearing a suit, almost very Men In Black, plus he is now known to have multiple arms coming out of him almost like a tree. The other aspect of him is that he is always picture around or near trees or forests. Fog has also been associated with him as well as the giggling of children right before he is seen.
As well there are apparently warning signs associated with him that you should be aware of:
-Coughing up blood
-Slender Man messes with technology
-Memory loss
-Nightmares about him
-drawing the symbol (circle with an “X” through it)
-diarrhea (yes, I know)
-vomiting
Now as much as I think this is a cool story waiting for some Hollywood movie to be made about it I am not putting much faith in this one. In fact since he is referred to as the “tall man” at times then that is the title role of Phantasm and I guess Hollywood beat me to my own comment. If you research all the videos and pictures out there they seem to fake and deliberate…almost like Blair Witch. One thing where the eyes can play tricks on you is that when you see pictures of the Slenderman in the trees, yes you can see something like a person there, but its trees and there are branches everywhere, anything can seem like anything ie optical illusions.
This is just one of many stories in the long line of urban myths and stories to scare kids with. While is fun to talk about, it really doesn’t hold up to anything closely related to truth or fact.
Be safe and remember to put down that twinkie if you ever want to be like the slenderman,
