I Feel It Coming In the Night….

I can’t help but feel an upswing for us (Midnight Watchmen), many great things are coming later this year heading into next year, investigations-events-and much more. When I feel this shift i get excited, the energy calling me to whats next, the fun part? I have no idea where it leads just that its going somewhere I HAVE TO BE.

Those times only have happened a couple of times for me. One was the night before we did The Orphanage the first time out in Gettysburg, PA. I’ll never forget looking over the rail of the hotel that overlooks Jennie Wade House and staring at The Orphanage across the street thinking to myself “What have you got for me” and deep down knowing things will change, that next night I met Chris. She been a close friend and confidant ever since. Things were never the same. lol

Its those times that drive me to the What’s Next?? Mentality I have. I’m along for the ride, sometimes more realistically, i’m being me, just following the path i’m supposed to be on. Their isn’t much that surprises me on a case, no but i’m amazed at what we find as much as what we don’t. And their is no question in my mind the spirit world exists or that they are here now watching & reading this with you…

Paranormal 101 – DVR System

Since DVR Systems vary this 101 will be very general. DVR (Digital Video Recorders) are all used for recording surveillance/video in all weather/day/night – as used in the paranormal it’s main goal should be not just collection of possible paranormal activity but your groups own actions and placement over the course of the hunt/investigation with time and date on all cameras capturing your every move.

Systems come in all camera capacity (4,8,12,16,32, etc.). Cost goes up as you add more possible cameras to a system. Cameras should have the highest possible TV lines (TV lines are the number of lines on a TV that make the picture, more is better) to ensure best video quality possible and the system itself should support the h.264 standard for excellent video quality, as well as ease of transport to a computer to view/show clients.

Their is some debate over the DVR System vs. Handheld cameras, as in set up time and ease of use. We feel with the correct DVR system for your group, it will outlast and out perform both in cost and use of handhelds for a majority of our cases over the course of a lifetime. Of course outside invests Handhelds make the use so much easier, but if one has access to a generator or some other form of power the DVR rules still for multiple angles and coverage area. Complete DVR Systems can range NEW from $150 for low end units to thousands for the higher end units.

Paranormal 101: Ghost Apps for Smart Phones

We keep seeing these photo’s pop up that groups across the country are thinking are paranormal in origin and are really just Ghost Apps… Its sad, not that people are trying to fool these groups, but that groups fall for it or worse yet know its fake and try to pass it off to make themselves look better! A lot of the photo’s like the one with a little girl Victorian era clothing is in, is one of the most recognizable photo hoaxes out there and people still fall for it!

What these apps do is allow a person to add ghosts to the photos you’ve taken on your phone. Instant paranormal photo! Good for fun, nothing else…

As investigators we all need to really evaluate not just the evidence we capture, but the things sent to us by potential clients. We have to be honest with not just ourselves, but them. It is the only way to advance the field – Truth & Honesty!

Stemie’s Place, Easton, PA – 9/19/2011

Stemie’s was formerly the Black Horse Tavern/Inn and was built in 1783. Many reports have been told of the brutal murder of a mobster, a former wairtress and claims of other paranormal activity have been told by the owners past and present as well as patrons. Story has it that on July 22, 1928 Saverio Damiano was at the Black Horse Tavern talking on the phone when four gangsters entered with shotguns and revolvers and began firing at Saverio. Saverio aka… The Wop, stumbled down a flight of stairs leading to the basement while still being pumped with lead as the gunmen followed behind. Saverio was able to drag himself through a room and into a hallway 20 feet from the stairs where he dropped face down. One gunman fired a single round into his back and said “Well, I guess he’s had enough”. They say today that he is the resident ghost of the tavern who is seen, felt and heard by many.

Notes:

One of our resident sensitives picked up a spirit we named “Abe” who wants us to find a picture of him located somewhere on property hidden out of plain sight. We have not been able to find this picture yet, but it should be said that the basement is full from the many previous owners, a needle in the haystack to say the least.
