Paranormal Q&A Dan Guthrie (Chapter 2)

Dan GuthrieWho are you?

Dan Guthrie Founder/Investigator and educator of the paranormal. My group is called Pampa Texas Paranormal Research Society.

Do you believe in Reincarnation? Who do you think you were in your past life (or lives)?

No. I believe we have 1 life and need to live it to the fullest.

What are your thoughts on Para Unity?

I believe there needs to be. We all should be doing this to help others. No one group is better then someone else. If there is something out there that you know that might help get or to understand or get better finding, then share it.

Have you ever investigated a Church? What are your thoughts on this?

Yes and I believe that some souls are just lost and need help to find their way.

When having a joint investigation with another team(s), how do you select the team(s) or members of other teams that you invite?

My group welcomes any group to Investigate with us. Those that do, we mix Investigators from both groups to work together. This helps teach each other new things that might help.

What do you tell someone looking to join a team, what should they look for or ask?

We ask why do they want to be part of our group. If they are looking to get on film or to be a Star or even just to see if they can see a spirits, We will turn them down. We want people that want to help other.

Any advice to a group just starting out?

Yes! Do this for the right reasons and not to get famous. Have faith. Debunk 1st before saying it’s paranormal.

Do you think it’s important to share findings with others in the paranormal community?

Yes and only if the owner of the location lets us share what is found.

You run across a team that you feel gives a bad name to the field. How do you handle the situation? Do you confront them about it?

Sometimes. Only confront in private and never in the open. That only starts drama. Our team will invite the other group to join us and work with members 1 on 1 to help teach them better. If they refuse, we just step back and leave them be.

Do you feel it is important to do a background investigation on the location (land/building) that you’re going to investigate?

Yes. The more you know the better.

What are your thoughts on networking with other teams or investigators?

Love it , would do it all the time.. Networking is the best way to go forward towards a common goal and making amazing friends along the way.

Hunter, Investigator, Researcher – What do you want to be referred to and why?

All of the above because a good investigator should be all three 🙂

What is your most memorable paranormal experience?

Answered in the previous chapter.  (Click here to read)

Have you ever had an experience where you’ve crossed a spirit over?

Well, there was one time, i went with my brother to a taping of a TV show. We spent many hours in this cemetery so
i was on my own and while talking to the caretaker, he told me of a little girl spirit that was supposed to be there.
I took the ghost box and tried to talk to her..I thought I heard a child voice and at the end of the night, we left and
went home.. A couple days after , my daughter’s toys started going on and off by themselves.. Very strange, and even on
command.. I wondered if maybe that little girl had followed me home.. We did another ghost box session and asked her to
manipulate a toy we had out.. It did.. on command.. We told her that she needed to move on and go to her family that is
waiting for her and if she sees a light to go towards it.. We heard her yelling no, no.. and then all of the sudden, the
toy went silent and we didn’t hear her anymore.. Did we cross her over?. I don’t know. But that is the closest i have come
to it.

Did you have experiences while growing up?

yes answered in previous chapter.  (Click here to read)

What is your favorite Paranormal Show (TV/Internet/Radio?

I love Ghost Adventures, My Haunted house, paranormal witness, celebrity ghost stories, ghost hunters

What are your thoughts about Provoking?

No provoking.. Be respectful! they were once people too..

What are your thoughts about Orbs? Dust or spirit? How do you tell the difference?

Depends.. I think most are dust, bugs, pollen, etc.. My theory if it’s a true orb they will emit
their own light and seem to have a sense of direction when they move about.. But when in doubt,
throw it out.

Would you ever use a Medium or Psychic on your team?

Sure why not. If they can help on an investigation for communication or they can validate what some equipment
picks up, i am all for it. Some people are lucky enough to have the gift, they should use it.

Do you believe in Reincarnation? Who do you think you were in your past life (or lives)?

I am on the fence about reincarnation.. I don’t fully understand it but have read about it and it’s
very interesting to me.

What are your thoughts on Para Unity?

OMG We should all be one with the paranormal!! I hate all the back biting there is in this field.. I mean, there are things or people i can say i don’t care for, for one reason or another so i won’t preach, however, we are ALL out for the same goal and that is to get answers to the afterlife.. We NEED to get along!!

Have you ever investigated a Church? What are your thoughts on this?

I have been to a church rumored to be haunted, but not technically investigated.. I know how people think that it’s bad or
wrong to think a church to have paranormal activity, but i have heard and read stories .. Alot of religious people
frown on ghost talk , ghost hunting, etc.. Although ghost and spirits are mentioned in the bible.. I don’t believe all
ghosts and spirits to be evil or demonic and i don’t see anything wrong with it.. Just my opinion, so i would be ok
with investigating a church.

When having a joint investigation with another team(s), how do you select the team(s) or members of other teams that you invite?

I love to investigate with other teams! I love to see what others bring to the paranormal table. Usually it’s with people that
we meet on investigations that we become friends with and chose to get together again.. First you need to have common ideas
about investigating and what we may not bring to an investigation, someone else might.. I believe it’s a constant learning
experience when it comes to the paranormal and the more we teach, the more we learn.. for all groups. Sharing ideas and
new equipment is the only way for advancement and answers!

What do you tell someone looking to join a team, what should they look for or ask?

I guess they should look for people who are honest and not out for the notoriety and are willing to
help you learn and get started in the field the right way..

Any advice to a group just starting out?

My advice is to have an open mind. it’s so important. Be professional.. Don’t provoke the spirits.. They were once
people. If you wouldnt treat people like that, don’t treat them like that in death.. Be respectful!!

Do you think it’s important to share findings with others in the paranormal community?

Absolutely! If we are all in it for the common goal of finding answers to the afterlife, then why would we hide what
we find!!

You run across a team that you feel gives a bad name to the field. How do you handle the situation? Do you confront them about it?

No, i wouldn’t personally.. or would try not to.. I have said things in the past when i don’t agree, but it just causes more
harm than good.. I do not believe in making money off people in this field so when it comes to that, it bothers me.

Do you feel it is important to do a background investigation on the location (land/building) that you’re going to investigate?

Yes and no.. I like to know where i am going and the history of the place but maybe not so much the claims of activity because
i think that it can influence your investigation and you would be looking for those things.. It’s better to go in blindly, see
what evidence you can find and compare for validations later..
