Ringing Rocks, Upper Black Eddy, PA – 11/5/2010

A four-acre area with rocks piled up in the middle of the woods where boulders, when struck, emit a sound more musical than the typical rock thud. Legend has it the rocks only ring when struck in the park, compasses do not work, animals stay away from the rocks and will go around the field never through it.

Findings:

Taking home a rock that rings in the park we found it still rings just like at the park. Compasses do work in the field. We saw squirels run through the outer edge of the field, animals would avoid the rocks because they’d be more vulnerable to predators then in the tree line. Nothing paranormal here just a beautiful landscap with gorgeous waterfalls nearby!

Notes:

A very unique place to visit. Only certain types of hammers work to make the distinctive ‘ring’ noise when striking the rocks.

Notes:

As for debunking some of the myths, we could easily hear voices from the neighboring houses from time to time, so it’d be no surprise if someone didn’t realize how close a few houses were that at some point heard a baby crying that sounded as if it was from the bridge itself!

Saint James Episcopal Cemetery, Bristol, PA – 10/20 & 23/2010

Several ghosts haunt this cemetery. An old “Iron Chair” is next to the grave of Merritt P Wright. The name of the chair is “The Witch’s Chair”. Legend has it that anyone who sits in the chair at midnight in the month of October, will have the arms of a witch encircle them. Not too far from “The Chair” is the grave of Gertrude Spring. Supposedly she is the women behind the “Midnight Mary” legend associated with Borderntown Road. Her white form is seen gliding across the road or walking on the water of Manor Lake. Sometimes she is seen hitchhiking in a dripping wet prom gown. She is allegedly the ghost of a young girl who died on the way back from a prom dance when the car in which she was riding went off the road into the lake.

Findings:

Only interesting thing of note was as Investigator Jeff Robbins was sitting on the Witches chair he felt colder on his one side than on the other, his left was 60° and right was 70°.

Notes:

We are looking into the article Mr. Jim Mullane wrote in the October 25th, 1991 edition of ‘Enjoy Magazine’ that was the basis for the Witches chair legend spreading in popularity…

Seen as a black shadow who is most often spotted floating about in the lounge, kitchen, and bar. The staff has named it’s ghost (what else?) Beethoven!
