Paranormal Q&A with The Ghost Provokers!

Ghost Provokers

Who are you?

Who are WE?  Who are YOU?  If you haven’t heard of us by now, then you’ve been living a lie.  We’re the Ghost Provokers, and we’re the cutting edge of paranormal investigation teams.  While other so-called “ghost hunters” wait idly by in the dark, hoping to capture some unintelligible whisper, we prefer to drag ghosts kicking and screaming out into the light for all the world to see.  We deal beyond the beyond.  We’re like the civil rights movement for ghost hunting–minus all that equality crap.

Explain Your Methodology:

I’m pretty sure we just did.  But here it is again–we “poke ghosts” and reveal them for the waste of space they really are.  Honestly, ghosts have no business being among the living.  There is no such thing as a friendly ghost.  Casper?  He’s a jack ass.  Boo Berry?  Doesn’t even taste that great.  You poke a ghost hard enough, hit ’em where it really counts, and you’ll reveal them to be the malicious spirits they really are.  Don’t think that just because your grandmother was all nicey-nicey in life that she won’t become some hell-bitch in the after life.  Most spirits like that we’ve encountered turn out to be whores of the devil just like the rest of them.

Favorite Haunts?

Where to begin, where to begin?  The Queen Mary, was good fun.  We investigated it during a convention called Ghostfest–met a lot of other ghost hunters who were clearly intimidated by the results we were able to achieve.  But its worth noting the investigation we just wrapped up at the Warner Grand Theater in San Pedro, California.  We all know that stage actors in particular are blood sucking parasites that feed off of applause and praise in life, but in the afterlife their taste for that stuff reaches ridiculous proportions!  Be sure to check it out when it premiers on our website, ghostprovokers.com this August 16th!  AND, if you’re looking to support our righteous cause, for the cost of a t-shirt we’ll send you a Ghost Provokers t-shirt, put your name in the credits and even have our lead investigator call you up to say “thanks” before promptly hanging up before you can trace the line.

Personal Experiences…

We make everything personal, so this question is just silly to us.

Why was the group formed?

These days it seems like everyone and their mom has been starting their own ghost hunting show.  What we felt this world needs are real heroes, bringing real science to bear down on this matter.  That, and there are so many people out there who think that a lot of this stuff can be explained by every day normal means.  That cold chill crawling up your spine late at night?  That’s no breeze, brother.  Yah, maybe your window is open, but you need to look past the obvious and see things for the freaky stuff they really are.  Chances are it the spirit of some craze convict recently put to death in the federal prison down the street who is looking to posses your body and make you do unspeakable things to your cat!  But no one wants to hear that.  Just the very idea is too scary for most people.  That’s why we’re here.  To educate the masses of their own ignorance.

What’s next?

Again, we’re going to plug our August 16th episode of Ghost Provokers vs. The Warner Grand.  But if you can’t wait for that, check out our website every week for Jim Dooley’s Ghost Hunting Camera Tips.  Yah, he’s kind of a douche, but he can be very entertaining at times.  Chances are YOU probably suck at capturing ghosts on video and need the tips anyway.

Strongest Evidence with link to it?

The best evidence we’ve ever caught on video is from our first episode where a ghost threw a brick at our lead investigator’s private area, not once, but I think about ten times in total.  Needless to say, we really pissed that ghost off–which is what we set out to do–and got the bruises to prove it!  Scott Butterfield, our lead investigator, will do just about anything to get a rise out of restless spirits.  He’s been pushed down stairs, smacked, scratched, bitten.  The rest of us get a big charge out of watching.

What’s your most asked Question by others?

Most of the time people ask if we’re for real.  Seriously.  Seriously?  We can’t even dignify that with an answer.

Dream Case / Investigation

It would have to involve some kind of haunted seven-eleven–or strip club. Which ever comes first.

Do you think paranormal shows gives groups like you a bad reputation?

Absolutely.  Most of those guys you see on TV are punks who couldn’t touch us in their best day.  Now, you may argue–but people actually watch THEIR shows.  Yah?  Do you think that’s all we’re after?  The money?  The fame?  Well, those sound pretty good don’t they?  They sure do.  Yip.  That’d be nice.

Tell us a strange but true fact about your group…

Jim, our cameraman, is the brother-in-law of Scott, our lead investigator.  I’m pretty sure they hate each other.

The Ghost Provokers are an online parody who shoot in actual locations that are reportedly haunted.  Their last episode was aboard the Queen Mary, a sight famous for its historic ghost sightings.  Their new episode features the Warner Grand theater and is already in progress.  They are looking for $1500 to offset production and advertising costs.  If you’d like to donate or offer your support visit: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1408439259/ghost-provokers-vs-warner-grand-theater! (editors note: they hit their mark and completed the episode, and may have caught a real ghost in a picture during the process….)

Paranormal Q&A with Al Graeber

Who are you?

AL Graeber, Director of DVPRS (Delaware Valley Paranormal Research Society)

Explain your Methodology?

We are mainly a scientific based paranormal research group. We have to be able to prove evidence using scientific means.

Favorite Haunts?

Augustine Inn, Bolton Mansion, Knox Mansion

Personal Experiences?

All of the personal experiences i have had have happened while investigating. Unlike so many others i have never experienced anything before starting to investigate.

Why was the group was formed?

I formed this group because so many other groups weren’t accepting new members and i was kinda looking for something more professional that a lot of the groups i saw out there.

What’s Next?

Next for DVPRS we will get involved in videotaping our investigations so we can post videos on our website and You tube to showcase our team and investigating style.

Strongest Evidence with link to it?

We have a lot of good photo and audio evidence on our web page. http://www.dvprs.com/investigations.htm  (Editor’s note:  Group & Site no longer active.)

What’s your most asked Question by people?

Don’t you ever get scared doing this?

Dream Case/Investigation?

I really do not have a dream investigation, just helping families out with there fears of the paranormal is good enough for me.

Do you think that paranormal shows gives groups like you a bad reputation?

Of course they do. The public looks at the TV shows and think thats what a Paranormal investigation is all about, provoking, acting like fools. In the 22 investigations that we have preformed we have amassed so much better evidence than most of the “TV stars” of the paranormal field

Tell us a strange but true fact bout your group?

We are not afraid to experiment. We are working on an experiment currently that we think/hope will give us an entirely different way of communicating with spirits.

Paranormal Q&A with John Levy

Who are you?

My name is John Levy and I am the founder of Olde City Paranormal located in Northeast Philadelphia.

Explain your Methodology?

Our methods for investigations are really basic. I also like to visit our family page of united paranormal international (upi) and see how other groups go about doing investigations and pick up new ideas. i feel in the profession of paranormal investigations just like any other profession we learn something new everyday and we are always open for new ideas!

Favorite Haunts?

I can honestly say i have two favorite haunts my first being my very first investigation which was burlington county prison museum it was there where i had my first personal experience (being touched) which was also captured on audio evidence. My second favorite would be an old nursing school which we had recently investigated three times and this was another time where i had a personal experience (being touched) and got a direct response during our second investigation in reference to being touched as far as i know this has never happened to anyone that i know of.

Personal Experiences

I have had quite a few personal experiences and for some reason entities like to make personal contact with me (being touched).

Why was the group was formed?

Our group was formed for pretty much the same reason everyone else was and that is too learn more and more about the paranormal and to help people with the experiences they are having. one of the new reasons which we have adopted is from a good friend of mine Glenn Orwan and that is to help out the historic sites who now longer have the federal funding to keep these sites afloat i think it is a great idea and O.C.P is onboard 100%.

What’s Next?

O.C.P next goal is to try to get all other groups to openly share investigative sites (not including private resident investigations for confidentiality purposes unless approved by the client which we had had previous permission). There is no reason why we can’t all work together and share ideas just as we did at the Bolton Mansion expo since we are all in it for a common goal.

Strongest Evidence with link to it?

Our strongest evidence we have is an evp with personal experience which i previously answered in one of the questions I don’t have it readily available but my partner Steve Rotondi has access to it this evidence has not yet been posted to our website.

What’s your most asked Question by people?

I am mostly asked about our evidence which i’m sure we all are considering the type of investigative work that we do but i assure people we are not a circus act and i don’t get paid to do this so i don’t think i would waste my time on a friday or saturday night at different locations when i could be spending quality time with my family.

Dream Case/Investigation?

My dream investigation so far has been to do Ft. Mifflin..hopefully we will get there soon!!

Do you think that paranormal shows gives groups like you a bad reputation?

I don’t think shows give us a bad reputation but i do think it makes it harder for us to produce evidence to the public considering all evidence captured by the tv show investigator are subject to criticism due to ratings!! no ratings no show so let’s spice it up THAT IS NOT US WHAT SO EVER!!!

Tell us a strange but true fact bout your group?

I can honestly say i don’t think we have anything strange about our group we our everyday working class people with families who are hard at work with the same common goal in paranormal investigations. One fact about our group is we love what we do but we don’t let it get the best of us we all have our seperate lives which we hold dear to our hearts but in the same token we go forth to help everyone as if they were are own family and our job is not finished till our client is satisfied!!

Paranormal 101 – E.M.F. Detectors

First off let’s clarify what E.M.F. is:  it is a physical field produced by electrically charged objects. Therefore an E.M.F. (Electro Magnetic Field) Detector is: an instrument for measuring the magnitude of a magnetic field typically used by paranormal researchers to detect a ghost’s magnetic energy to localize where “it” is.

Now that that is out of the way we will give a quick overview of our meter’s pros, cons & functionality as we have seen used in the field:

Cellsensor EMF Detection Meter - Ghost Sensor
Cellsensor EMF Detection Meter – Ghost Sensor

A low cost meter that has a visual red light and audible alarm (with volume switch if you only want the visual) when it goes above 2.0(milliGauss) to about 2.5(mG) in high 20(mG) to about 25(mG) in normal mode.

Pro’s:

Visual Red light, Audible Alarm, 2 scale system High/Normal modes.

Con’s:

Picks up RF signals, needs probe to work.

The Ghost Meter & Ghost Meter Pro
The Ghost Meter & Ghost Meter Pro

A low cost meter that has a visual red light and audible alarm on “Pro” version which features “communication” modes.

Pro’s:

Visual Red light, Low cost.

Con’s:

Picks up RF signals (Cell phones, walkie talkies, etc.)

ELF ZONE
ELF ZONE

A very low cost visual E.M.F. meter, similar to a K-II with lights for visual range of safe – green light (0-2.5MG), caution – yellow light (2.5-7mG), and danger – red light (8mG and up).

Pro’s:

Easily readable light system.

Con’s:

Picks up RF signals, No way to know actual readings of EMF.

K2 Meter with On & Off Switch modification
K2 Meter with On & Off Switch modification

A staple in the field for investigations with lights for visual range of 1st Light (GREEN) indicates unit is on and a normal background EMF field which we always have around us between 0 to 1.5 (mG).
2nd Light (GREEN) indicates a Low Level EMF 1.5 to 2.5 (mG).
3rd Light (YELLOW) indicates a Mid Level EMF in the range between 2.5 to 10 (mG).
4th Light (ORANGE) indicates a High Level EMF field in the range between 10 to 20 (mG).
5th Light (RED) indicates an Extremely High EMF of 20+ (mG).

Pro’s:

Easily readable light system.

Con’s:

Picks up RF signals, No way to know actual readings of EMF.

Extech 480823 EMF Meter
Extech 480823 EMF Meter

A simple easy to use E.M.F. Reader with a digital read out displaying  a reading of Tesla or Gauss numbers.

Pro’s:

NO RF interference – strictly reads EMF signals, Gives a numerical value.

Con’s:

If meter is moved too quickly ranges jump, No backlit display.

MEL-ATDD
Mel Meter with REM Field

In addition to detecting AC/DC EMF & Temperature changes in the environment, it also uses a mini telescopic antenna to radiate its own independent magnetic Field around the instrument. This EM field can be easily influenced by materials and objects that conduct electricity with 4 lights that show source proximity, strength and EM field distortion.

Pro’s:

All in one for Temperature and EMF reader, Back lit display, better for detecting cold spots as it uses a probe, can record hi/lo temperature readings.

Con’s:

As per use the REM field has produced no paranormal hits.
