Saint James Episcopal Cemetery, Bristol, PA – 10/20 & 23/2010

Several ghosts haunt this cemetery. An old “Iron Chair” is next to the grave of Merritt P Wright. The name of the chair is “The Witch’s Chair”. Legend has it that anyone who sits in the chair at midnight in the month of October, will have the arms of a witch encircle them. Not too far from “The Chair” is the grave of Gertrude Spring. Supposedly she is the women behind the “Midnight Mary” legend associated with Borderntown Road. Her white form is seen gliding across the road or walking on the water of Manor Lake. Sometimes she is seen hitchhiking in a dripping wet prom gown. She is allegedly the ghost of a young girl who died on the way back from a prom dance when the car in which she was riding went off the road into the lake.

Only interesting thing of note was as Investigator Jeff Robbins was sitting on the Witches chair he felt colder on his one side than on the other, his left was 60° and right was 70°.

Notes:

We are looking into the article Mr. Jim Mullane wrote in the October 25th, 1991 edition of ‘Enjoy Magazine’ that was the basis for the Witches chair legend spreading in popularity…

Paranormal 101 – Thermometers

What are Thermometer’s used for in the paranormal?  They are used to find and detect temperature variations (cold spots) that are being caused/used by paranormal entities.

Extech IR Thermometer 42500
Extech IR Thermometer 42500

Infrared thermometers (IR) infer temperature using a portion of the thermal radiation emitted by the object of measurement. They are sometimes called laser thermometers if a laser is used to help aim the thermometer, or non-contact thermometers to describe the device’s ability to measure temperature from a distance.

Pro’s:

Can read temperature from a distance, Back lit display for easy reading, Laser sights for accuracy of what is giving off temp,

Con’s:

Can read temperature from a distance although accuracy is sacrificed.

USB Date Loggers
USB Date Loggers

Data loggers connect to a computer to download the temperature data collected during an investigation and can be used to make graphs or compare readings from other loggers used, to detect cold spots and temperature deviations throughout the night.

Pro’s:

Easy to track data on temps in a location over a period of time, probe type has more accurate readings.

Con’s:

You have to download the data before you know what is found – no instant gratification, No range as its a probe type.

Mel Meter
Mel Meter

In addition to detecting AC/DC EMF & Temperature changes in the environment, it also uses a mini telescopic antenna to radiate its own independent magnetic Field around the instrument. This EM field can be easily influenced by materials and objects that conduct electricity with 4 lights that show source proximity, strength and EM field distortion.

Pro’s:

All in one for Temperature and EMF reader, Back lit display, better for detecting cold spots as it uses a probe, can record hi/lo temperature readings.

Con’s:

No ranged readings, as probe is centralized.

Pickett’s Charge, Gettysburg, PA – 11/14/2009

A park ranger on routine patrol one night noticed a man on horseback. Upon closer inspection, the ranger noticed the attire of the rider. It was that of a Civil War officer although the allegiance could not be ascertained. The unknown horseman approached to within 10 feet of the car and promptly disappeared.

Other visitors have reported the sound of galloping horses in the immediate area of The Angle, although none were present. Sounds of the cannons have permeated through time as people report hearing the thunderous roar of battle. One visitor even reported seeing Robert E. Lee himself, sitting atop his horse, Traveller, on the opposite side of the field. Its been said that during a stroll across the field on a warm summer night, cold spots were common. Going from balmy humidity to sudden cold, so cold one can see their breath, the fellow continued the path of Pickett’s infantrymen.
